Feldkochbuch für warme Länder - Field Cookbook for Warm Countries, for permanent use with the field kitchen and for the information of the Commander, Unit Leader, and Medical Officers.  June 30, 1942.  The standard cookbook above has been so popular that when I found this cookbook for warm countries, I knew I had to have it.  It is a fine complement to the H.Dv. 86, with a section specifically for Libya and similar territories, but the recipes apply to field kitchens everywhere.
This cookbook doesn't compete with or duplicate the above cookbook.  This is a little less of an army manual and a bit more of a recipe book, with many pages of specific cooking directions and portions.  Besides advice and recipes for cooking in warm climates, the recipes and methods fully apply to everywhere the field cook had to go, and it even has a page of German/Italian cooking related words so the Italian and German cooks can get along in the kitchen.  Early in the manual there are warnings  about sanitation, bad water, flies, and sandstorms, then there are pages of tips to make the cook's life easier, such as making an oven or big pot from a gasoline drum.  After that, are about 30 pages of detailed recipes, including many recipes specifically for cooking in the mess tin and lid.
At the end, it has 10 pages of plant pictures (black and white, no color) and descriptions of the local (North Africa) plants and preparation tips, with the name of the plant in German, Italian, Arabic, and Egyptian.  If you liked the above cookbook, I think you'll like this one even more, regardless of what troops you need to feed.  Originally 104 pages in small format, now 64 pages, 8.5"H x 5.5"W, paperback.
